ABOUT
‘What Sweeter Music’ is a NEW Christmas cantata that is about an hour long in performance. It is in the style of lessons and carols with a reading followed by a song, and contains original as well as traditional music. It includes interaction with the audience in some of the readings and songs.
‘What Sweeter Music’ contains 5 choral, 5 solo, and 2 instrumental pieces. It is varied enough to showcase singers of different styles and abilities. Listen, share, and let us know if you would like a workshop in your church or school.
COMPOSER
I have been a church musician for over 20 years and faced the annual struggle of what to present for Christmas. In 2008 as the Minister of Music in the Queen Anne UMC in Seattle, my pastor and I decided to ‘do something different’. Our experiment was the seed of what became ‘What Sweeter Music’ the cantata. It is both musically interesting for you, fun for the choir, AND learnable with a month of rehearsals.
